Jeffery D. Briggs was sentenced today in front of The Honorable Erin Connelly Marucci for the January 26, 2021 shooting and killing of John P. Robinson near Union City. The jury in March of this year convicted Briggs of Murder in the First Degree, based on the evidence presented by the Erie County District Attorney's Office. The Pennsylvania State Police were the investigating agency in the case, and the evidence used to convict Briggs included witness testimony, surveillance video, ballistics, gun shot residue, and DNA analysis. Chief Deputy District Attorney Gregory M. Reichart stated at sentencing that the weather that evening was that of a winter snowstorm, but that Briggs unleashed "a storm of bullets" that ended the life of John Robinson
Members of John Robinson's family also spoke at the sentencing. Reichart presided over the trial, seconded by Assistant District Attorney Brittany Felder. The Erie District Attorney's Office would like to thank the Pennsylvania State Police, with particular thanks to Trooper Scott Sipko, in their assistance and diligent work in securing this outcome.
