County Detective Bureau
The County Detective Bureau is the investigative arm of the District Attorney. County Detectives have full police powers and are often called upon to assist other law enforcement agencies in the investigation of complicated crimes requiring special expertise or additional personnel. County Detectives also investigate crimes beyond the jurisdiction of local police agencies and manage countywide task forces to reduce crime in specific areas such as DUI (driving under the influence), drugs, child abuse and domestic violence. The County Detective Bureau was established in 1876.
